Special Session E

Innovation and the Transformation from Natural ressource based to Knowledge-based economies - Globelics Thematic Review 2014

This session presents preliminary results from the preparation of Globelics 2014 Thematic Review. It is about the role that natural resources can play in the context of economic development and about how economies that are dependent on the production and export of commodities can be transformed into knowledge-based economies through learning and innovation strategies.

The draft report will be presented by its main editor and by two of the authors of chapters for the report. The two discussants have policy experience and knowledge of research in innovation and development. The disussants will have access to a written draft version prior to the session to which the Secretariat hopes for both written and oral comments that can aid the progress of the review.
